01. Parts Overages

Proper SMT machine setup and operation requires parts overages. Unused and excessive parts supplied by you or purchased by us will be packaged and returned to you with the assembled boards.
SMT parts which are not supplied on the reels should be on one continuous strip of tape.
If you need to assemble the same SMT part in different boards, do not cut them into strips, please keep them in the continuous strip of tape or on the reels. Resistors, Capacitors, Diodes (0603, 0805, 1206, 2225, SOT, SOD, MELF - packages) require a minimum of 50 pieces and have to exceed the required quantity by 30 pieces. (E.g. 40 pieces will require 70 additional pieces –
this meets our minimum of 50 pieces plus 30 pieces over assemble quantity requirement).
Resistors, Capacitors, Diodes (0201, 0402, MiniMelf, miniature packages) require a minimum of 100 pieces having to exceed the required quantity by 50 pieces.(E.g. 80 pieces will require 130 additional pieces - this meets our minimum of 100 pieces plus 50 pieces over assemble quantity required).
A small number of excesses (1-5 pieces based on the total quantity of assemblies) are requested for expensive parts such as IC, BGA, QFP, Connectors, etc., this will ensure smooth assembling and shipping of your assembled boards on time.
For further information contact us at service@PCBSEA.com or seek help through our 24 hour online customer service.

02. Panelization

If your PCB dimensions are smaller than 50mmx100mm or if your PCB is of any shape
(other than rectangle) your boards must be panelized in an array for assembly.
As we also fabricate your PCB for you; once we start fabricating your board we will have the panelization file (solder paste data),
we will transfer the data to our PCBA department to create the stencil which will match the panelized PCB.

03. Break-away Rails (Break-away Tabs)

If the clearance between the board edges and copper features is less than 3.5mm (138mil),
or your boards need to be panelized for some reason,
break-away rails (Break-away tabs) must be added at the two longer parallel edges of the boards to ensure that the boards can be assembled by the machine.

PCBA SPECIAL REMINDERS

1. Parts Overages (It is for PCBA mass production.)

A: For the proper assembly of PCB during mass production, we require additional parts as overages; specifically components such as resistors, capacitors and diodes. Components unused and in excess will be returned with your order..

B: Components like resistors, capacitors, diodes which are not supplied on reels should be on one continuous strip of tape. If you need to assemble the same components in different boards, do not cut them into strips, please keep them in the continuous strip of tape or on the reels.

C: Resistors, Capacitors, Diodes (0805, 1206, 2225, SOT, SOD, MELF-Packages) require a minimum of 50 pieces and have to exceed the required quantity by 50 pieces of the components offered by your side. (E.g. assemble quantity 40pieces will require an additional 100 pieces- this meets our minimum of 50 pieces plus 50 pieces over assemble quantity). And Resistors, Capacitors, Diodes (0201, 0402, 0603, MiniMelf, miniature packages) require a minimum of 100 pieces and have to exceed the required quantity by 100 additional pieces. (E.g. assemble quantity 80 pieces –we will need 180 additional pieces- this meets our minimum of 100 pieces plus 100pieces over assemble quantity). Normally IC, BGA, and QFP do not require any additional overages but a small number of excesses (1-5 pieces based on the total quantity of assembly) are required for expensive parts such as connectors etc. It will ensure smooth assembly of your PCB and on-time delivery.

2. Panelization

Panelization is required during mass production of PCBs. If your dimensions are smaller than 50mmx100mm or if your PCB is of any shape (other than rectangle) your boards must be panelized in an array for assembly during mass production.

3. Silkscreen

If silkscreen for assembly is not provided, we could not find the accurate position of the components. While we assemble boards without silkscreen, we will have to bypass inspection. Errors may occur.

4. Paste layers

We will use paste layers which are provided by customer. If they are not provided, we will create them. When creating paste, PCBSEA does not require customers’ approval before usage.

5. Substitutions

If you choose PCBSEA turnkey PCB assembly service, we source all components for you according to BOM. We try our best to keep these components as accurately similar to the components listed in BOM. We will notify and seek approval from customers before making substitutions for components.
